99 F-150 Fusible Link problem

Ok, I have a 99 f-150 with 214k, the truck broke down on Tuesday night, the cause was the fusible link, i replaced it this morning & when i put the battery terminal on, it smokes, what would cause the fusible link to melt in half ?

which fusible link? motor? did you hook the battery up right? the fusible link is made to burn up when it gets too hot, that way it doesnt destroy the rest of the circuit.

ok did you get the right fusible link? or did you just get a roll of universal fusible link? make sure the starter solenoid/relay on the firewall isnt stuck sending power to the starter.

Sounds like the solenoid stuck, and then burned the starter up, then cause the fuseable link to burn.
