Sweet smell when starting
Ok i just had my friend go out with me to my truck to see if he smelled it also and he did. When i start the truck he puts out a sweet smell kinda myabe like antifreeze. If not antifreeze what could it be and if it is what is going on. thanks
Crap sorry i forgot to add i just went to get some lunch and it sounds i have a valve hitting something and it gets worse when the speeds increase

An '08 and ford just put a USED motor in it? What's the deal there? If you're smelling "sweet", you've got a coolant leak SOMEWHERE. It doesn't take much of a leak to smell sweet, sometimes they're hard to find even, they can be so small. I don't like the sound of what you're saying. I hope for your sake that that engine isn't a trash can case. If you smell the "sweet" in the wet exhaust, it's getting in the combustion system somehow.
Probably not worth the effort, sounds like you've got bigger problems there, but the way to tell if you have coolant leak into the cylinders is take the plugs out 1 by 1 when it is WARM YET (as in just shut off) and hold a make-up mirror or mechanics inspection mirror right over the plug hole. It will fog up immediately on the cylinder(s) that have the leak. If they put an '08 motor in that '08 (as they should), it will have the new 1 piece plugs and new style heads so you won't have to worry about breaking the plugs off when you take them out quickly to check for coolant.
Sorry its my 06 F150 not the black 08 in Sig.... I have 2 F150's the black one is my wifes.. the 06 is mine and they put a used 06 motor with half the miles in about 2 weeks ago.
