Low to High altitude -- engine software update?

Hi.

I moved from the plains of western Canada to the Santa Fe area at an average of 7500 ft above sea level.

My 2002 King Ranch 5.4 is not starting immediately and I think is getting poorer gas mileage than I am used to. I am a careful driver so a heavy foot is not the answer here.

Two things:
1. For the best ignition and driveability do I need to get the engine programming reloaded and using something tweaked for this altitude?
2. My displays are in the Canadian metric. If I get the engine software reloaded with the local US version will my metric mileage display now be in miles?

Thank you

It will reprogram itself for your driving. If you want to start from scratch, disconnect the battery for a half hour to reset everything.
