what about octane booster???
It dilutes so much in a tank of gas, it would take gallons to make a difference. Plus, you need to run the octune your tune calls for, anything different is a waste.

i never understood why people run high octane fuels when their vehicle doesn't need it to begin with... they think higher octane means more performance - when in the end its the exact same (maybe cleaner fuel yes) and give no performance gains except more $ on the pocket.
Snake oil. Ethanol is cheaper and will raise the octane higher.
I beg to differ - if your engine has a knock sensor, you will get a slight mileage and performance improvement using higher octane fuel. The timing will run more advanced which helps with both. I've put 93 in mine to test this theory, and it does run a bit better and it does get better mileage.

im talking about if your vehicle doesnt need it and or isnt tuned for it...

i worded it wrong, i wanted to put octane booster in and then bump up my global spark! i already run 93 in it. i use my 93econ tune cause my performance tune gets horrible gas mileage. it gets like 12mpg and my econ gets like 17 on highway
If you are talking about the stuff in a can that you buy for $3 or so, when you read what it does, it's not much. In a 30 gal tank, it may take you to 93.05 octane. Almost nil.

I used to need higher octane gas in my 2001 chevy 5.3L
it ran like a stripped banchee but it would spark knock will regular grade fuel.
I think the timing was somehow advanced a little above normal from the factory.
I bought it brand new.

So the two usually cancel each other other out.
Also, there is usually no point in spending more money on higher octane to get more MPG... you'd be better off putting that extra money toward more 8x octane gas.
To avoid excessive wear and heat in the engine, it's best to use the recommended octane.
