so you're saying I need to run 81 octane in my supercharged trucks because the 100 octane racing / 93 octane street fuel is worthless???

Higher octane does not burn cooler. It simply resist detonation under pressure,{as the diesel effect}, but when the spark plug makes it detonate, it creates the same BTU energy as lower octane fuels. But detonating under higher compression, makes better use of the gasses expanding when they burn.
