Tune up question

I bought my truck used and it didnt come with a maintenance book. When should I start thinking about a tune up and what might be some signs I need one? Truck is '07 just turned 30k, everything seems to be running fine just wondering. Ive done a search but not seen a straight up answer as to when or what the book says. My dealer said 60k but another mech said 100k!

whats the build date on the truck? the plugs are said to be good for 100k but most usually change them out around 60k.

x2 with the plugs(I do mine at 100k, the plugs are a pretty reliable piece, actually just changed mine and they looked perfect), buy a Haynes manual if you actually want some specific #'s on when to do tune-up's the book walks you through pretty much everything possible.

Just a suggestion, its helped me oodles.

At 36,000 miles you need to look at the brake pads and change the transmission fluid. I usually do a power flush the first time and the next time drop the tranny pan. Inspect the usuals like belt, hoses, lights, etc and top off any fluids. If you have a 5.4, I'd change plugs at 60,000 regardless. These plugs are just not making it 100,000 miles. Plug gaps almost 50% over specs are common.

dont worry about the build date that was mainly if you had a 5.4. your plugs are straight forward. but the build date is located on the driver side door sticker. most of the time the plugs will last over 100k but you'll lose quite a bit of mpg and power by then, so its recommended by some of us around 60-70k for a plug change.
