Coil on Plug question / possible for sale!
well i dont have a 5.4 3v in front of me and i dont know how far the boots go into the bores but since global wont do anything for you then i'd just put one in and see what happens. what could it hurt? if it dont go all the way down then just put the old coil back in. maybe someone updated the boots? you wont know until you try.
i'd go ahead and try it. it may just slide over the plug more. like i said if its too long that you cant mount the coil then just put the old coil back in for now. just put the new one on and if it fits right then pull it back out, put dielectric grease inside the boot and stick it back in and drive it. it may just be updated just to prevent water from getting all in the boot where the spring contacts the plug.
I bought my ebay cops off these guys for 79.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=110371884963
they got here in 2 days and they have emailed me twice thanking me for fast pay and making sure i was satisfied..
seem, like good folks!

Ju015dd: Thanks!
That is EXACTLY the same "difference" I have on mine. I noticed that they were different, but went ahead and tried one to see if it would fit. Perhaps I wasnt mashing them down hard enough, but I do think I applied enough pressure to get them fully seated. Even then it was too long. When I went to bolt in the coil, it would "bend" the boot over to make the connection.
The spring came all the way to the end of the boot, less maybe 1/8".
If I felt good that it is the same coil, I'd buy the exact boots and put them on. I am just a'skeered that the coils are not a match and could do damage.
With all that being said, and after spending 2 lunch hours looking up sparkplug changing procedures, can anyone please direct me to a link with all the TBS regarding changing these? 04 5.4 3v
Thanks all again!

You might want to check this out too (it's for the '99-'03 though):

How often do the sparkplugs break when removing them even after using carb cleaner to soak the carbon? I have 120,000KM on mine and don't want to be fishing porcelain out... Rare or a 'normal' occurrence?
