Guys, I ordered a wix fuel filter at rock auto, and I'm in the middle of changing it out. This thing is huge compared to the ones that's on the truck already. So much wider, and I'm afraid I'm going to break the clamp on the truck. Any ideas? Wrong filter?

 

Skyblaster- I'm betting they sent you the one for the '04-up truck because they are bigger than the '03-down. Give 'em a call. I have a new Wix for the '03-down that I have no use for that you would be welcome to but I'm betting it would cost almost as much to send it as it's worth. Sorry about that.

 

I had the same problem with my '01. I had a Motorcraft fuel filter and if was about twice as big as the old one. I checked the part number at several different places and, according to them, I had the right part. I ended up going to Advance and they tried to sell me the too big Motorcraft fuel filter. I asked if they had any other brands and they brought out a Purolator. It was the right size and worked fine.
