plugged Cats????
jbrew,
Hughes is part of the direct TV thing. It is the only internet I can get in the sticks so I went with it. I will be dumping it soon and just go with the Verizon and the laptop. This way I can use it whenever I am away from home.
Back to the truck....I pulled #1 and it was clean. The only really bad one was #5. #6 had some buildup but it was brown and #7 had very little. #8 was also clean. So it looks like it may be leaking in the front and making it's way back on the drivers side. Which agrees with what you had posted.
How difficult is it to repair? It looks like you have the intake off. Will I need to remove the intake? When I looked at the front of the motor it looks like there is a cooling assembly bolted on the front that runs across the front of the motor, I am not sure if that can be removed without removing the intake or if that in fact is part of the intake. If I do need to pull the intake off what other items should I change/update. I already see that I will need to clean out the throttle body assembly and will need a new throttle cable, the cable is starting to fray.
I just don't know about pulling the top of the motor off, I am ok with plugs and little stuff but those pictures look like a weekend and a barrel of beer.

By the way jbrew. I drove the truck to the track on Saturday and Sunday and the truck ran great. Not sure for how long if the intake is leaking but it worked for the weekend. The boy ended up 2nd in the 125 b/c class so he was happy also. Thanks for all your help on this issue.
I will need to get this fixed right so if you can help with the correct gasket it would be great.

Gasket prep takes a little time as well, you can't get around that - just don't forget to order all that you need lol (I hate when I forget one!) - That kind of stuff takes time.
The wrenching isn't bad at all. The connectors and such ONLY fit the right receiver (except for coils and injectors = same, but they stay where they connect unless you remove the harness and there's know need to do that.)
So yea, a barrel of beer and a tooth brush lol.
I can send you the procedure from the service DVD - just need a an email address to send it to. I just wrote this up about the gaskets, you'll want this info ~ (= post #20) -
https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...-tricks-2.html
There's a few other resources to hit, a couple good ones here -

This ones okay -

I use these two sites allot for info -

That's just a few lol. - But you can do it, it's not that difficult really.

Keep an eye on that little channel where coolant travels down the head.. Watch those two forward water jackets for signs of leakage. The can temporarily seal up for awhile, but yea - it would be nice to confirm absolutely that she is indeed leaking from their first.
If you do remove the intake, you'll see what I mean by the gaskets going bad in that area. They'll look smashed and distorted just in those two areas. Pics from others have been posted here before - same deal.

2nd place! Congrats - He's a regular Joe Moto ehh? My ex-wife and I use to race, -that's how we met, in the first turn after the hole-shot! I ran her *** over lol. After 10 or so years, she ended up getting the last laugh

Joking, but I met her at the track. - Mustang Acres
1. I am in Imlay City, 53 (Van Dyke) and I69. It is in the sticks.
2. I did replace the crusty looking cops with the originals I pulled last year and I believe I was hitting on all 8.
3. I will start looking up the links you had sent to prepare for the teardown. Thanks again for all your help.
4. He does pretty good. This will be our first year on the big bike. He has been riding since he was 5 and he is going on 15 now so he rolls pretty good.
They closed Mustang acres but I did donate my collar bone there. My brother also hyper extended his knee there. Track was not nice to our family. Now we hit Baja acres, Bulldogs, and Portland mostly. Just to have fun and keep the family together for now.
Thanks again jbrew, you are the man when it comes to fixing my issues with the 5.4's.

Yea, I broke my clavicle bone @ Mustang Acres lol. Racing open class - caught a rut before the jump @ the finish line. Nailed the guy next to me in the air, changed his heading a bit, he went from North to due West real quick he, - I went straight down, upside down still in the saddle
- So much mud was packed in my Moto 3 , I couldn't get the damn helmet off and it was a bitch to breath lol.
That was about mid pack, and back when they let you race open bores - Good Times - Iron Mustangs had some pretty killer bonfires as well.

That was a pretty awesome track. I was at my first race there and was sent out with the A riders. Thought I could do the big table top but came up a bit short and landed on my head. Good thing I have a hard head but the clavicle took a nice smack. 8 weeks later I was good to go. I also had the Bell helmet, pretty sweet back then, 1994.
Yea , I should have Personal Messaged (PM'ed) yuh, I'm not sure you can yet? Think you still have to get 100 posts in before you can. But yea, edit your email up there - take it out.
I'll thro one up once in awhile, but I delete it pretty quick lol.
I'll try to PM yuh, - not sure you can reply?
