new heads for an 01 F150 4.6L

my truck blew a spark plug twice on cyl num. 2 and instead of getting it rethreaded I was gonna get new heads but I wanted to upgrade not just replace and was wondering if anyone knows if the new 3V or mach 1 DOHC fit my truck engine

sure they fit, but you need the timing cover and intake manifold to go along with it, and different exhaust manifolds and tuning

if thats the case then you could just get a 97-03(and 04 heritage) 5.4 2v and there wont be any other mods needed. you'll just need a tune. you can swap the engine and get a tune and you'll be on your way.
99-03 5.4's had the pi(performance improved) heads. 97-98 didnt. there was about 15hp difference.

Have you tried a Timesert yet? We have a member (Galaxy) that rents out a kit. There's also www.blownoutsparkplug.com. These procedures do not require head removal.

Why not? All you are doing is reaming it out oversize, then threading it for an insert. The inserts, if properly designed and installed, essentially become a permanent part of the head. The Timeserts work better than any other "do it yourself" inserts (i.e. helicoil), and the guys at blownoutsparkplug.com have designed special inserts that work better than anything.

The boys over @ Timesert.com already have you covered. It's called the BigSert lol - Not kidding.

It's #2 ??? From what I've seen - You'll have it fixed in 15 minutes and never have another problem with it.

I wouldn't do 3 valve heads if they were given to me anyway lol. Not on that truck. I would find a good set of 2 valve heads and send them out.
