Cool Cold start ticking...

Ok, i did try and search, not much luck.. I have a 2002 4.6 liter with 120,000 miles... just changed the oil the other day, and noticed some ticking upon cold start-up. It goes away after a few minutes. I always use Motorcraft filter, and run Royal Purple 5w-20 oil. Othen than this, the truck runs really strong. Do i need to worry about this?

did it do it just once right after the oil change or does it do it continuously?

Seems to do it after every cold start since... truth be told, i have heard it before, just didn't pay much mind to it. Now, i seem to focus on it.. seems to be coming from the passenger side. Actually wondering if it may be a small exhaust leak on the manifold.. could be wrong.

You might want to make sure you don't have any loose spark plugs.

Had the same thing happening on both my 5.4's. Turned out to be the same bolts snapped on the exhaust manifold on the passenger side.
