The receipt hasn't come in the mail yet. On a good note, my 8 plugs that I bought for $90 bucks on ebay from global-automotive will be here soon. So if I change the plugs right with the dielectric, then it should be running well and I can concentrate on other things, like MORE POWERRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! or a 3"-6" lift kit.

You got that right.

So the receipt came in. They charged me $315 in labor for: 1 coil @ $92.58, 8 spark plugs @ $11.92 each. Sound about right?

If $315 was the total for labor AND parts. Yes that's not bad. - Fair.

If they charged you $315 for labor for 8 plugs, 1 cop and a fuel filter, that's fair if their labor rate is ~$100/hr. Charging separate labor for the cop is NOT fair because the cop has to be R&R to change the plug................that's just padding the bill.

Can't argue with the flat rate manual.

Call your local dealer and ask them their hourly labor rate. It's over $100 in high cost of living cities.

Last dealer work I had done was almost 2 years ago, and it was $76.95 here. Considering the independents get $50 to $55, this is a low cost area. Before I left the Chicago area, the independents were getting $80 and the dealers $95 to $110.

Got ya beat there - when I started driving, gas was 33 cents a gallon and labor was about $15 an hour.

The best that I can recall is .56 cents a gallon in 1979.
Didn't need to ever go to the shop because some of my close friends throughout high school were motor-heads.
1st car was 1969 Pontiac Grand-Prix with the 400 engine w/ 4 barrel carb.
That car would fly. My top speed was 128 MPH and I had room left. I could smoke the tires right off that car. I left a few clouds that would have made you think you were at the drag strip. Good times and memories.
