No, not IMO - There's been some problems with Mobile one. It can't be trusted now.

Play it safe and use what the manufacturer suggests. It's up to you if you want to wait for the next change, but honestly - I wouldn't. I think Motorcraft is even cheaper.

mobil 1 5w-20 good choice?
No and never has been. It is at the bottom of the HT/HS rating which is 2.6 and is the absolute bottom of the barrel to make Fords Spec. It takes a HT/HS rating 2.8 to get NORMAL engine wear. While I don't have a clue as to the whys, Mobil One, with the exception of the Extended Performance line, has been turning in some eye popping high wear metals. There has been a challenge and a bold statement made by Castrol and Valvoline that Mobil One fails the Sequence IVA test causing exceptionally high wear which exceeds API limits. Here's the thread where we discussed this:https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...one-users.html

If you are looking for a recommendation, look to any of the name brand blends. Valvoline, Castrol, Pennzoil, Havoline, Chevron Supreme, Philips Trop Artic, Kendall, to name a few are exceptional and I would run any of them in my truck. The Phillips Trop Artic, per Phillips tech, has more GP III base in the blend than the others. But don't expect anything magical in the bottle. The others will make your engine last just as long. A good oil is one that is well balanced. A basestock does not make an oil a good one. A good add pack without a good basestock is still not a good oil. It requires a balance which is why the blends will always turn in the lowest wear metals.

Kendall. Yeah. I forgot about them. Some of the local mechanics around here really like that brand. I've had them dump that stuff into my cars at various times in the past. Nothing wrong with it at all. But then again, I can't really tell if it's good or bad. All that I do know is that they gave me a free flashlight with their logo on it.

Trust me, my friend has 400,000 miles & still running strong with Mobil-1 exclusively, in his Ford Ranger! Do not believe all of the internet "Hype", being portrayed here by all of the so call "lubrication Engineers". Mobil-1 will serve you just fine.........Think about it, Castrol & Valvoline, just want to start marketing rumours, to try to knock the Synthetic King off of his rightfully earned throne!..............

Your ignorance never ceases to amaze me. The problems with Mobil 1 have just RECENTLY surfaced, and have NOT been the case in the past. This is a "NOW" problem, and I feel that the "warnings" need to be seriously taken. The formulation has changed, and it sure looks to me like it has NOT been for the better.

I'll believe a lubrication engineer long before I'll believe a layman who is only stating an opinion based on past experiences and is trying to shove off documented facts as a conspiracy theory. Your use of the term "Scamsoil" just adds to your lack of credibility, have you digested what the lubrication engineers have to say about that product? I think not, you just don't like it for whatever reason.

I use Mobil 1, I'm just very glad it's the "EP" formulation. If I had the regular stuff in there, it would be coming out of there right now.

I don't believe all the hype either but in the case I'm taking note. My question is why has Mobil not responded to this _huge_ accusation? THAT is what has _me_ concerned. You'd think if there was not basis for the accusation that they would immediately come out with their own tests (which I'm sure they already have done) or at lease a statement. I've seen neither. I've been using Mobile 1 for many years and just changed over to another brand.

another one ??? Yippee !!!

I see "someone" is still a blind follower of Mobil 1. Thats good. Must be paying you pretty decent.

anyways, I would suggest running Castrol, or SWEPCO if you can find it. About to be giving the Castrol edge a try, see how that works out. Right now we are having good results with the castrol syntec. Just for what its worth. I know yall have moved on past suggestions.

Not going to claim I read every post. This thread is like every other one we have.

I have never seen anyone claim that mobil 1 = "kaplooyee" . I know people have offered facts here, to argue your opinions. Like I keep saying, it's your truck, it's your money. To each his own ! At least we all agree on the truck itself, just maybe not much after that.

Like Wandell once said,
just because they make XXXL thongs, and they work, doesn't make it right
