Question Seat Belt/Airbag warning on dash

this might not belong in this thread but i couldnt find any other one to put it in. Recently on the dash the seat belt/airbag warning came on. Someone said i can just unplug the battery to reset it but i doubt that will work. also thinking it might be the seat belt itself on the buckle. not sure. anyone else experienced this let me know thanks!

Migdaddy- I doubt that disconnecting the battery will do any good but it doesn't cost anything so go ahead and try it. The airbag system does a self check every time you turn the key on- that's what it's doing after you turn the key on until the light goes off. Does the light just come on and stay on or does it come on and then give you a number of flashes, if it does, count the flashes and then the number after a slight pause. That number gives you the code for the problem. I would first get your manual and search diligently for all the fuses in the air bag system. (there can be as many as 3). check carefully to see that none of them are out (PREFERABLY with a test light) If none of them are, pull the fuses, one by one and "reset" them several times rapidly to make sure there is GOOD CLEAN contact. I don't think there would be a problem but it might be a good idea when "reseting" them to disconnect the battery ground cable. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Disconnecting the battery is a waste of time - won't do anything except make you have to reprogram your clock and radio.

Similarly, checking the fuses won't likely get you anywhere.

Just turn the key to on and count the two digit flash code. There are several common lamp flash codes (LFC) that are frequently discussed that you should be able to dig up with the search tool.

If the SRS light comes on solid without flashing an LFC, you probably have a dead RCM module.
