MAF swap question

I have a 03 Screw 5.4 and i wanted to get a bigger maf. Can i use a 90mm maf from a Lightning? It will bolt up to my Outlaw air intake. But what about the Maf sensor can i use mine from the stock maf? Would my stock one (maf sensor) be calibrated for my injectors?
Thanks for the help.

Tony

It would have to be custom tuned. You will gain nothing from a bigger MAF sensor unless you have the need for more air than your stock MAF can read.

Yes it will fit but the L 90mm is calibrated for 42# injectors. So you would need a tune.
Without a blower you would be wasting time and money and would end up with no power gain
.

I believe the meters would swap but ( yeah,,,there's that but again,,lol)
if you put you stock meter in a bigger housing, you would be getting a bad reading from it du to the greater volume of air.So you would need a tune for it.And again,,,you would see no power gain from it. So it's not worth doing!

Im putting a 75mm tb on the truck/and porting out the plenum is the reason i wanted to up the maf. With the new style injectors and the fresh tune and TB more air than needed is better than less than needed. And i have it Hyperteched as well.
I just didn't know how the airflow was sampled.
On our SuperCoupes we use the C&L mafs and they have different sampling tubes to takecare of the air sampling.

thanks
tony

your stock maf sensor will not even come close to maxing out with your mods though...

hey tinner I'm a fellow supercouper as well I have 4 of them.

anyway, I was searching google and found this thread, I swapped a 351w and 5spd in my 92 along with a t4m0 ecu. I just got a MAF code and was searching housing swaps. Stupid maf was out of range and causing my car to die intermetently out of no where.

kaboom, bye bye motor on a canned tune. As stated above the stock MAF is fine for what you are doing (I ran mine even with 24# injectors)

since your porting your TB Elbow and running a larger TB look into selling the hypertech and getting a custom tune(s) done, it'll be worth it
