tap the starter with something hard and see if it'll turn over, dont go crazy with whatever you use. does the solenoid even click? you better talk to those guys at work and find out if they touched your truck

I would disconnect the positive side of the battery and the negative, clean the terminals and replace them. If that didnt fix it I would short the big post to the small post on the relay. If it starts you need a new relay, If it doesn't start then I would check the connections on the starter solenoid on the starter. Look for corrosion on the main wire.

it could be the battery is low and wont take a charge or the alternator isnt putting anything out. i know on a bunch of diesel trucks and tractors once the battery got down to a certain voltage i think 7 volts the engine would shut off i'm not totally sure about these trucks though. and once its too low it wont be able to start either.

its not the starter. They rarely fail. check the basic connections first.

his wont even crank. check your fuel pressure and the injectors if you have a 5.4.

Start by returning the truck to stock. Hint; if the tuner tells you to call an 800 number for assistance, do it. Once you have the corrupted program removed from the PCM try starting it again.

had truck towed to dealership, can't call hypertech till monday morning, i don't think it's the programmer, been using it for last 70 000 km with no trouble, but i'm assuming dealership can't run diagnostics untill aftermarket programming is removed, checked battery connections, battery less than yearold (six pack deep cycle) also checked voltage and its good...hopefully they can figure it out....good time to some overdo maintainence anyways

something may have locked up on you. like the alternator, a/c compressor, p/s pump. you'd have to pull the belt off turn the crank and all the pullies. what brand battery do you have?

I've had the same thing happen to me......

IMO, from what you said your truck did, I would suggest that it's the battery.

One morning, when I was leaving the house, my truck started up fine....went back into the house because I forgot something, came back out and when I was taking off the truck just died. No warning or anything. I thought it may be the battery, due the truck not turning over when starting so I jumped it with another truck....it started up and I took off for work.

Or so, I tried to....

When I was going down the road, the truck died again and I had no choice but to let it coast as far as I could get. Parked it. Came back later with a new battery, hooked it up, truck started right up and everything was fine. Auto parts guy told me that some new vehicles have a safety(?) feature that actually shuts the motor off if the battery charge is too low.
