they did put it on a diagnostic and nothing came up. they updated the computer and theres no difference. how do i reboot the computer?? what clener should i use to clean the MAF? i do have a k&n intake for it but i took it off cause it was causing the same issue and i had to get some warranty work done and i didnt want them to say that the k&n intake voids the warranty.

thanks again guys

I believe you disconnect the battery for about 30 minutes or so. Wait for verification from better gearheads than me first though.

What he said !

Just as Stealth suggested, disconnect the battery for 30 mins or longer.

Any chance you see them hook it up to a diagnostic tool.

OK, so you have an 04 new body F150 with the 3V 5.4. How many miles are on it? Have you changed the spark plugs yet? Do you think that you may have a coil pack, or a fuel injector going bad? I work at a Ford dealer. Not every time a vehicle comes in can we duplicate a problem. If you get a competent tech to duplicate the problem on a test drive, then he will be able to find the root cause. You may need to leave it for a few days, though. Just from your posts, it seems that you may have an attitude. Try being nice and just let them figure it out. When people are understanding about the complexity of the modern vehicle systems, the more likely the mechanic will take the extra time to completely solve the problem.

Could be, bad plug, cop, injector, fuel filter, maybe the guy who installed your exhaust damaged the o2 sensor.

it is almost impossibble with computers, FI and all of the sensors to make a vehicle run lean to the point of a miss by reducing back pressure. Reducing back pressure will in crease air flowbut the sensors should drive the computer to increase the injector dwell time.

I would say that you either have a severe restriction in the new exhaust or just a coincidence- that you picked up a miss right after exhaust system change.

I wouldn't think (hope is more like :o) the installer would have damaged the 02's since the ROR is connected at the intermediate pipe, far from the 02's.

it has 59k i bought the truck with 35k and i never changed the plugs. the dealer said the have no record of the previous owner changing them either. the tech(who said he has been doing this for 25 years) said if it was a coil that he is 99% sure that it would have thrown a code. the first time i took it in they had it for 2 days and nothing came up on the diag or anything. aand they said they didnt experience the problem. so i took it back and had a tech ride with me and then he noticed the miss and confirmed it was a miss. i then asked why this "miss" has just happened after i installed the exhaust? like i said earlier he said "its because of the different amount of air flow" and said 95% sure new plugs will solve it.. i am in the middle of rebooting my computer i got another 10 mins to go. im not trying to come off like i have an attitude at all. i have thanked everyone numerous time for their help input. sorry to anyone who i may have come off like a jerk to. i just want this thing fixed.. thanks again
