Need jbrew advice

Hey jbrew, I posted a message on the v10 swap. You seem to be the guru on all things, so will my 4.6 accessories fit on the front of this motor? I know I will have to do a lot of rewiring for the trans and get the computer. I will pull the cab to do the install. I know a lightning motor would be better but they are pretty high dollar for me, and my time is cheap. I also like to be a little different. I will be changing gears also, as I am running 35's with a lift kit. I should have changed them a long time ago. I am thing 4.10's with a limited slip. I know alot of people think I need 4.56's but it will see quite a bit of highway miles, towing 4 wheelers. Any info would be nice, I am going to try and start on changing engines next weekend. Thanks, Bryan

Paging Dr. Jbrew, ....Dr....., I can tell you a bit as I built them in Windsor. As far as I know for the accessories, the w/p pulley is larger by a half inch maybe on v-10's. Idler pulley's are all the same except year to year. Pre-01's were wider because they had 8 rib belts vs. the new 6. Crank pulley's I believe are the same, again year based. The p/s pump same thing, pumps ok, pulley's could be different. The tensioner pulley is the same deal also, a/c compressor too. Basically I shoulda said the components are the same but pulley size is not. The v-10 uses a cast iron w/p and the 4.6/5.4 an aluminum water pump.

This was my answer ~ Contact user JMC.

That's cool that BLUE chimed in, because frankly - I don't know :o

Yea , start a new thread about it if you like. That would be a good one

Oh , there is a fella that goes by CamdenLake (spelling?) - He's done a V-10 swap.

Wish I could be more help.

I gotta be honest, when I 1st seen that thread this morning, I was thinking to myself, "man this could open the door to a whole lot of busting on Brew"
I was actually thinking of a line or 2 of my own but decided that it was best if I left it alone.

Ye, he is over on the Jeep Forum causing trouble.

Actually, I had to join that sight for a cpl of problems I ran into in the past
5+ yrs. Other than asking a question every 2 yrs or so, I don't spend any time over there (hmm, or maybe I do, and don't know it ).
I feel bad, I know alot about the Jeep vehicles but have no interest in the forum. Ye, I know, pretty selfish. This forum keeps me busy enough and is definately alot more fun and interesting.

To much fun and freakin addicting! And I don't know why?

Well, I tried to find a parts compatibility list for the V8 and V10 Modular real quick. All I got from that was - One doesn't exist. If fact the V10 itself went thru many changes and parts from model year to model year are different.

What's that mean? The motor isn't compatible with itself ?

I always thought the V10 was sort of a waste. What would you need it for ? Back when the 7.3 diesel was in production, That was the engine you wanted. Seemed like everyone had one for awhile. Why not? -Great low end torque , power and it was some what economical. I had a 99 4 door 350 w/7.3 for awhile (until I totaled it on the turn-pike). That truck was huge, -heavy as hell, but hell, I could pull anything with that monster. The V10 didn't compete. The worst thing Ford ever did was take the 7.3 out of the line up. If I needed a good work truck today( 3/4-1 ton), I don't know what I would be looking at.

That was what I have noticed. With egr and w/o egr and like was stated above, different pulleys. Trial and error I guess!
