I did find that and read it, I have not contacted him directly yet. I know he used the whole drivetrain and I am not. I will remove the cab to do this which we think will be alot easier. Not that big a deal. If I do go thru with this crazy idea, I will try and document it a little. Sometimes I just want to do it and don't document it, but I will try and be better with this, especially with the wiring changes and fans.

For my own personal satisfaction I went through the 6.8 V10 and the 4.6 PCM pinouts for the 2000 model year. Hey! That's my model year. Go figure.....
Of the 104 pins there would be 29 that would have to be re-pinned. Either because there is a circuit on the V10 and none on the V8 and vice versa or the circuits control different things. Obviously there are more blanks on the V8 Connector. I also noticed that some circuits share the same number and color wires but control different things. Sometimes they have the same circuit number and control the same function but use different colors. The connectors also look different in the diagrams but to be sire would require looking at the harnesses.

Thanks, JMC
I may have screwed up, but I bought a 2005 V10. I now will need to find the wiring diagrams for the 2. Where would I get them at?
Will probably start on it next weekend. I got the motor yesterday.

The thing is, I don't have the schematics of the 05. Being an 05 it will use the CAN protocol for computer control. Your V8 uses OBD II. That means that the V10 will have drive by wire throttle control, variable valve timing and intake manifold runner controls( three valves engine ). 2004 was the last year for OBD II for the V10 ( 2 valve engine ). Is it possible to exchange for an 04 or earlier? If not, the easiest thing to do is to swap the engine over to OBD II. That will involve getting a 04 or earlier engine harness and PCM. Cam phaser lock outs will also be needed. You will also need a throttle body that is not drive by wire. I am not certain but I think the TB will bolt up. You will have to fiddle with the throttle cable or get a V10 one. The PATS system of the V10 PCM will need to be bypassed if it has it. I don't think the 99's had PATS so a 99 PCM would be the best bet.

Regards

I cannot change it out. I do have the computer, wiring, throttle pedal. I will have to get wiring diagrams (best place to get them anyone?) and make this work in my '97. I will be pulling the old motor next weekend. So the fun will begin then.
Wish me the best!!!!

You can purchase the PCM - See them on ebay quite a bit.

Ford service DVD's can purchased online as well (Ebay) - You'll want those for what your attempting..ALLData online is a good site. You pay an up front fee and get Ford service info (up to date) - after the initial fee, it's $14 to add a vehicle. Service DVD'S go from 9 - 12 bucks usually.

I tell yuh what, I have the Service DVD's/an ALLData account and Haynes/Chiltons manuals. I use them all - Sometimes it takes them all to figure sh^t out. - For me anyway.

You will need more than that. If you look at a CAN protocol PCM you will see 3 plugs on it as opposed to the single 104 pin OBDII plug. One is the engine harness. One is the transmission harness and the last one is the body harness.
Just for starters; The fuel system is returnless. The PCM varies the voltage to the fuel pump to control fuel pressure. You will need to pickup the other two harnesses so you can at the very least plug them in to the PCM to control the throttle and the Fuel Pump.

Thanks, I have never been known for being real sane, you can ask my friends, they have always thought I have a lugnut loose.
I took an old pipe buggy and put on a corvair engine and added the port injection from a nissan, chrysler turbo, ford throttle body and GM electronic distributor. And it ran!!!
This shows I am crazy, but I will work thru it.
I will run up to the salvage yard and pickup the other harnesses.

thanks again for the input.

Bryan

The way I am looking at the wiring, the v8 body harness should work with the v10 computer and if I use the 4.6 trans harness it will work with my trans. maybe some pin changes. As long as I stay with the 3valve wiring right?
