They'll need a tap to chase the threads,If the screw isn't hardened at all like Brew said, very simple job chasing the threads after you get 80-90% of the screw out if they can do it without tearing up the hole, which you can, but they may opt for hogging it out and going larger. Depends on who's doing it. I really doubt an extractor will work on that one, but it might.I wouldn't attempt it, burr or mill it out.

tjk might need a break from the wife, but I did my time and broomed mine. Sooo - Beer and Women on the menu? In that order ?
I feel like brooming her somtimes (she's a blond and the yes the jokes are true sometimes ), not often but I think that goes for anyone. She's a keeper. And ye, a break would be great. Kinda wish Blujay needed 2 knucklehead DIYER's. Texas would be a great spot to go right now.
Although, there are a few members from Texas who might put us up. My oldest son is going to Irving Texas next week for business. Some company down there isn't paying their NY State taxes properly. He works for the NYS Taxation Dept and he is one of the Corporate Auditors. Basically ppl dread it when he walks through the door. I can go on my dime with him if I wanted to.

Why not try using a small C clamp to hold the cop down.

Let me get this straight. They changed all -8- plugs and COP's, drilled out a new hole away from the hole where the screw was broke, zip-tied the COP in for $202.00. That is a bargain !!!!
Did they use plugs from their stock or did you provide those as well.
Wish you could get a pic of where they drilled and zip-tied that Cop and post it on here, I would like to see it.

Ok so this is the deal i just took a 100mile round trip with the new cops and plugs the money im gonna save from the better mpg is gonna repay for this repair in NO TIME AT ALL,

I cant believe how much better gas mileage im getting ATM its like night and day!

Sorry for the picture quality, anyway

this is a picture of the COP its ziptied i cant see the hole they drilled but its still pretty loose. I hope it will be ok, aslong as it doesent move up and loose its connection with the plug.

Picture of the plugs look pretty bad huh?

truck has 104k on it the tech said this wasent the first spark change becuase the original has some kind of color dot of it something, theres something on it that you can tell its orignal. Are these bad or could they be worse?

I think I know why they zip tie the COP. It would be too much extra work to tap the hole. And if they go a size bigger the bolt will not fit through the hole in the COP.

From looking at the bolt and looking at the hole on the cop i think there might be alot of room.... it seems to me the part of the screw thats holding the cop on is the top part of it, the head of the screw.

Man , my plugs looked identical to those - exactly like em. I only had 20,000 on them tho. - She's a little leane, but not bad. - Your alright.

My threads are little cleaner I guess, - What's the yellow stuff on the plugs in the pic ? Did they use break away on them or something ? Doesn't matter , no big deal. That's right, you can't go larger than 7mm on top. You won't get away with putting a washer one micro meter larger, - under the head of the bolt/screw. Coils have to ride loose on that bushing too, side to side loose, not up and down. Seen lots of those coils with the ears broke off.. - They will drill and repair using the same size or heli-coil if they have to I bet.. Someone knows what there doing over there - That's a simple drill and tap for those guys - If they thought they could go up one size. I'm not surprised they didn't have that bolt/screw. Odd size and cut.

Yea, post back after they fix that - Glad everything went pretty good.

Ye, those plugs look pretty nasty but believe me, I have seen worse.
It will take alot in my opinion to have that COP raise up enough to cause you a problem. Like I said before, I'm going on 14 months with no screw holding down my #8 COP. I will take the time and mill my broken screw out and then re-tap it this Spring when I do a few things to the top end of the engine. Rebuilt injectos, TB & IAC cleaning, new type of COP'S and then regular mait.
I'll take some pics,(before, during and after's) of what I do to mill that screw out. Glad it is running again and running alot better than you expected.

Now you can do the dance !
