Royal Purple Oil

Since the third oil change I've been using Royal Purple synthedic oil thinking it was the best. I've since heard that it wasn't good because of poor chemistry control. Anybody know anything about it? What do most folks use? What's the best brand of filter?

Hopefully, Labnerd will see this post. He will have the best answers for you.
I switched to RP on my last oil change based on my own research and a Senior Sales Manager from NAPA had alot of good info and right answers for me. I feel comfortable running it in my truck.

RP is a blender, they manufacture nothing. They get their PAO base from BP in Houston. To say they have poor chemistry control is just a lie. They use top shelf materials in making all of their products. I have issues with RP only from the stand point that the most expensive ingredient in the mix is the purple dye and that some users like to claim that it is made for extended oil changes- it isn't. Any claims that it makes more power is also advertizing hype. It's a good oil and if you are happy with it, keep using it. I think it is over priced for the value in the bottle.

I was hoping you would come through. Good info, well done.
PS: Never did I believe I was going to get better HP gains, even the guy From NAPA laughed at that hype. I bought purely on the idea that it would help with friction, bearing wear etc.

I used RP on my last change to see if their increase in fuel economy proved true. I have noticed zero change in that aspect so I will go back to mobil 1 full syn. RP is just too pricey.
