99 F150 wont start?

Owned this 4.6 4x4 for 2 months. First week would not start. Lights and gauges worked, battery tested ok(1 year old) key turned, starter did nothing. Just a thunp noise under the dash. Hasn't done it again until tonight. And while I was unloading something the bed light came on. Help!!!!!

As far as the bed light, was the door open? If so, the bed light will come on with the interior lights, or when you manually turn on interior lights. I would double check the battery terminals for a good connection first. Then check the ground cable for a good clean connection at the frame. Most times when the starter won't engage, but all electrical seems to work, you have a bad connection at the battery. That's not to say that your starter isn't going out, just someplace to start at. Good luck.

no start

I have 97 f150 that had weird electrical gremlins, wouldnt start sometimes, blower motor go on with no key, radio played mo key, wipers same thing. It turned out some late 90s,forgot yrs 97-? had windshield leak, water gets on GEM under dash and power distribution box, cost $1100 to fix their problem, hope this not what you have but might be worth checking. lot of f150's have poor connection on the male / female clip at starter but that you usually get a click, ford has a kit for bout $10 or you can put loop and shrink wrap on own for bout 50 cents if thats the issue
