i was recently told that my 1999 5.4 would not interchange with another 5.4 unless it came out of a 1999..is this true? thanks for any help on this, -Ron.

 

It will bolt right up to the transmission, the exhaust will bolt right up and the engine mounts are the same. As for the engine harness, I cannot say for sure. I do know that any 99 -04Heritige 5.4 can be made to work. So you use the 99 engine harness and maybe move a few vacuum hoses around and make the heater core hoses work and you have an interchange. I made a 5.4 fit where there used to be a 4.6. Trust me a 5.4 to a 5.4 is a piece of cake.

Everything is the same aside from the engine harness, computer, and the engine itself.
