Surprised you came off like this.
Just thinking of my Mom, Wife, Daughter, I would be twisted if they got an answer like you gave this lady. Don't want to start any trouble but I had to say something.

Anyways, sounds like your in need of a decent mechanic. We can help you all you want, and probably find the cause and tell you the fix.... but who is doing the work ? Are you relaying everything to some "mechanic" who is then trying to do the work ?? Might want to look into a shop, with a mechanic who knows what he is doing. Look around, ask some friends, I am sure someone around you is familiar with F150's, and is fairly priced. That would be your best bet. Relying on online diagnostics is a little sketchy if you ask me, and can get costly quick. Not tryign to sound like a **** by any means, just being honest with you, and trying to help get this solved, vs playing the guessing game.

It's all good Jethat, I was really surprised though, coming from you.

Hopefully she will see your apology.

I am sure you are stating this because of my post. I have no idea what I was thinking when I wrote Champion in my earlier reply. When I seen your reply I went back through to see who wrote Champion and it was me. I changed it to Motorcraft. I can not figure out why I wrote Champion. Brainfart comes to mind.
My only guess would be I seen Champion in a reply a couple of posts up from mine.

Good catch, now I will go and bury my head in the snow........:o

There are a bunch of good answers on here, but I have a feeling your not understanding them completely. I had a problem a while back from washing my engine compartment and got a cylinder misfire from moisture in the cops and it made the truck run extremely rough and felt like a major problem but ended up being a pretty easy fix! Here is where I would start...

1. Buy the full set of COP's (individual coils per cylinder...you have 8) from global autoparts (i think someone gave you a link)

2. Get a full set of 8 motorcraft oem replacement spark plugs (may have to go to your local Ford dealer).

3. Have your mechanic replace all 8 COP's and spark plugs at the same time...you are looking at just over $100 in parts plus whatever you are paying for labor. (I would try to get them to reduce the labor as they misdiagnosed it the first time and charged you full labor).

This should take care of your problem as you will basically have an all new ignition system unless the problem is with the computer or it is a fuel problem with a bad fuel injector or something. I think most will agree that this is the cheapest and most likely way to fix the problem for good.

"whats a COP other than a donut eating machine?"

I do love a lady with a good sense of humor.

Ma'am, your best bet is to let a local Ford dealership have a look at it. It won't be the cheapest route, but at this point, it'll be the quickest and give you peace of mind for your move.

Learn from it and you'll be better prepared next time.

Best of luck,

Joey

I'm afraid so.
Hopefully she got that truck away from the mechanic that was working on it. Heck, I would have done all 8 COP's, and plugs, for $450.00 including parts and then taken them out to dinner as a going away gift.
