Dealership plug replacement cost

Well I just had the plugs replaced at the dealership, At 61,000 miles. None broke, there was some sign of corrosion. Cost. $182.31 labor $96.00 for the plugs. I guess that must have been a couple hours labor.

Looking at what's involved in the procedure, that seems to me like a pretty reasonable labor cost.

My understanding though, is that the new plugs still have the same defective design, but that the problem is minimized by applying anti-seize to the nose cone of the plugs.

Just thank your lucky stars that they all came out in one piece, what dealership performed the plug change?

dealer costs

Glad to hear the comparative costs, Best Ford , Nashua NH. I believed the cost was justified . I know I didnt want to get involved with a snapped plug issue . Ive got almost no free time.

Good price

I had mine changed around 50,000 and to the dealerships suprise you really should just do it the way the factory did it. It took a few return trips for engine code misfires, etc and for them to realize the new plugs and wires they put in and routed however they wanted was not the way to do it!! They were sparking everywhere but where they should. After new wireset and plugs routed to the exact factory routing etc. they are still running strong, I am over 100K now.

I have seen the change procedure on this forum and am fairly mechanical but I decided to let some else deal with the hassel. I paid 180 bucks to have it done and still got the hassel since they tried to be creative. STill say its worth having done though.

What year is your F-150? If you say they put in new wires sounds like you have something other than a 5.4 3V. The earlier modular engines (with plug wires) were very particular about the routing of the wires and also you really needed to use Motorcraft wires if you didn't want to have ANY trouble. Never could figure that one out but I know it was a fact.
