What is the difference between the windstar and crown vic injectors?
Mike said that? Maybe you misunderstood.

The 03.5 heads were updated in the plug chambers. The 04 first year 3 valves bumped the injectors.

Crown vics sported Type 3 Bosch injectors from 2000. I have already explained the difference. There were a ton of Romeo crate motors being parted out on ebay at one time. 2000 -2002 Ford Factory plants. Don't see to many anymore..

Hey man just a word of advice, going rebuild is a waist of your money. Come on man, these motors are built ford tough baby! Get a low milage engine. You get that rebuilt, you still need TOOOONS of parts, intake plenum tb injectors fuel rails sensors, brackets, and of course your IAC hose haha. Lots more where that came from. Most of your 4.6 stuff wont work on your 5.4. Its either you spend $1200 bucks on a 40,000 mile or less engine off ebay, or spend that $3700, and spend an iditional $1000 just for intake and up, not including accessories.

*What i know you CAN use off your 4.6

Altornator, AC, power steering, pulleys *does not matter if its 6 or 8 rib, i got mine to work.

Injectors, fuel rails, engine harness and ECU.

As far as your vaccumms, lots of stuff have been re routed on the intake plenum and you will need the vaccumm harness for the 5.4.

Your coil packs and wires, along with the engine harness (if you read JMCs post)
will NEED to go on the motor, no sense on getting COPs or the 5.4 harness, because its not going to work. Tons more stuff around the engine bay has been re routed in the years as well. Me and you are at the same level, you had a 99 4.6 , i had a 99 4.6, we have the same exact set up so i can be of help to ya! Scan around ebay for a few months, someones going to come along desperate, leaving their phone number on the website, CALL IT, MAKE AN OFFER. Get this. Complete 5.4 and trans, grandma'd and grandpa'd with trans, ALL WIRING POSSIBLE, ALL ACCESSORIES and dude throws in a gas tank with a new fuel pump in it, and all front steering componants, 90,000 miles on the engine and trans for $1100, you can get this same deal. I found someone in my state, called him up and talked him down. Ill look around for a little bit for ya.

Alright this is my guess.

4.6 engines, unit stays the same

Motorcraft Fuel Injector
2000-2003 Ford F-150"FUEL INJECTOR -- High Quality, Original Equipment Replacement Part, Direct Fit"
Fits: F0TE-D1A,D5A,D5B; 8 Required. SKU MICM5041

Motorcraft Fuel Injector
2004-2006 Ford F-150"FUEL INJECTOR -- High Quality, Original Equipment Replacement Part, Direct Fit"
Fits: F0TE-D1A,D5A,D5B; 8 Required SKU MICM5041

Alright the 4.6's used the same ones, but the 5.4s...

5.4

CVU Fuel Injector
1998-2003 Ford F-150

CVU22-11133

CVU Fuel Injector
2004-2006 Ford F-150

SKU CVU22-11181

SOO...Being that they have been using the 4.6s same fuel injectors even in the newer years, and did not with the 5.4s, one could only assume they changed/upgraded in 2004.

thanks for the info, but i live in Alberta Canada and the price for the rebuild was a Canadian price, i did get some prices for some used auto wrecker engines but they want $1500.00 for an engine with 151 000km's and they didn't even know how good of shape it was in, thats why i looked into the rebuild. i'm thinking of buying the rebuild and then buing the parts i need from the auto wrecker. that is way i was wanting to know what those engine code mean so that i could get the right one if i went this rought.

If it came out of an f 150, before 03' and after 00', you will be happy with the power incrase. AND while your down there, since the exhaust is different, get some long tube headers and high flow cats! Sounds pretty amazing if ya ask me.

After 98 you mean - PI's came about in 99

98's were 235 hp/335 trq

99's were 260 hp/350 trq

A nice improvement in torque for the 5four. It not only made more, but it achieved this @ 2500 RPM's. The 98's max torque was @ 3000 RPM's..

The Lightnings came in 99 - making 360/440 ..

swap sticky

On a side not to second the suggestion, a Swap sticky would be cool. Been reading lots of different posts on this subject. I was thinking about doing it myself. Probably going in a different direction, but it would be nice to have all the posts for this in one section like the power adders etc.

Good luck with your swap.
