My 5.4 swap

from here on out, here is the location of everything I do until the 5.4 is in. Here is the engine I bought out of a 98 Navigator. 93,111 Miles for $500.

tomorrow I will drop the pan for cleaning and also re-run the 4.6 harness

I am using. . .

my 4.6 harness and coils
stock 4.6 stall with 4R70W transmission
misc. 4.6 pulleys and accessories
5.4 exhaust manifolds
4.6 starter
4.6 backing plate(between trans n motor)

I am replacing. . .
valve cover gaskets
probably intake manifold gaskets
plugs

I do NOT want to remove the intake manifold to drop this engine in, but since I will probably have to pull it and replace a heater tube that the guys removing the engine broke, I might as well install engine without intake.

I understand there another member who is also doing this same swap at the same time. I think I am a few steps ahead of him so I'll be sure to include all my mistakes and findings for him as well as others so when they run into a problem, they can look here and address them.

The 5.4 has the engine oil cooler on the block along with the bottom radiator hose. My engine did not have the engine cooler, how would i be able to tie the oil cooler into my system???? I really want to use it

Sure that's not the power steering pump cooler/lines. The oil cooler is above the oil filter by the adaptor plate. if you don't have a remote unit.

Are you sure? I have a external cooler out front of the radiator that has lines that goes to the powersteering box then lines that to the pump. this cooler is a block that the oil lines bolt to, then the lines run out to under the front bumper. . .

Sounds like the transmission cooler to me if it is front of the radiator, down low, on the passenger's side.

No. Trans lines just run to the radiator. That cooler on the block has to be the oil cooler. And the small cooler out front of radiator in power steering cooler

I don't know. I had to order mine with the E4OD/4R100 late in 98. I wonder if you'll need the Navi radiator ?
