Why yellow? I would go red if its your daily driver. They are getting real expensive lately too.

And jbrew, I know we've kind of batted this topic around in other threads, but do you really think the Optima is that great?

As I've said in those other threads, I get my batteries from Costco and they have a 100 month warranty. Free replacement within the first 36 months. I've never had any problem if I needed a replacement - I just take the thing in and they swap it out, no questions asked. Their Kirkland battery is about half the price of an Optima, and they sell Optima's too. If you don't have a Costco, I bet you could find another source for something just as good.

Optimas are not what they used to be but if you are going with one get red top.
My Motorcraft was over 6 years old when I changed it and as it turns out it was still good. Had a corroded connection that I found after buying an 84 month NAPA Battery.

I got a gold series from Autozone and thought I would have atleast one trade in but it lasted 7 years the issie I have seen with the Optima Red or Yellow is not enough people purchase them. There is no flow of new units for sale. No telling how old it is.

Jesus, now I'm all goofed up - Thought Optima was the best is all. I only thought that because of what I heard in the past and that was all good..

Now what ? Motorcraft then ?

Optima's are expensive Patrick - Yea even more so to ship, I just found some here , 3 miles away.. I don't want a cheap one. I'm going thru the truck right now getting everything up to par before tuning..Damn I don't know how my fuel pump was even working as dirty as it was..

BTW Patrick-I still might be moving over that way, I'll know after the first of the year for sure. I'm done in Indy and back home in Mi for now..

Anyway, what battery fellas ?

yes optimas are great batteries. Yellow and red are basically equivalent, but the yellow is deep cycle (meaning you can drain it, and it will be like new when charged again)

I have a 4 year old yellow, and have had 0 problems with it. It sat in my friends garage floor for over a year, and it fired my truck right up on the first try

No kidding! A concrete floor and it still held it's charge ? The one I had was from Walmart, but I've left the lights on all day / shut them off / gave it 10 minutes and it fired up. I was surprised..That one was only 3 years old..I would like one that at-least had that type of recovery.

yea a concrete garage floor

ive also run my stereo all night. literally before sunset, and after sunrise, with me starting the truck for about 2-3 minutes. And it was fine all night, and started the truck right up.

We were doing an overnight sound insulation install on my buddies truck...
