mustang intake makes more mid to high range power thus increasing acceleration and hp. the higher stall will help with lack of low end. a 9" converter reduces centripetal weight on the crank. allows the motor to rev more freely. it made a significant difference when i went from the stock 13" to the 9" thats in there now. only thing is u will need a bigger cooler to compensate for the added heat from the stall and it also being smaller and holding less fluid

they call it the poor mans shift kit. ive done it on two of my own vehicles and Pats truck. and pats done it on a number of his friends to after being pleased with the results

supposedly some retired ford engineer who originally designed the 4r70w came up with this to improve the life and durability of these transmissions. there is another site i found that tells u how big to drill the holes for how much power ur going to be putting through the transmission. i think max was 420hp.

Does OBX have a Warranty like we do? OBX has been around for years they make parts for import cars. They make Pedals and Shift ***** and that sort of stuff. I would be leary of someone getting into making mufflers. If it were me and I was looking for mufflers and or exhaust you want something with a proven name. Im not just saying this cuz I work for Magnaflow. Ive worked here 2 years now and have always used Magnaflow all all of my cars for as long as I can remember.

300 hp at the wheels with a 2v 4.6 and no turbo or supercharger and still have bottom end power...

i dont see it happing unless you were to run higher compresson with ported heads with a custom cam and tuneing with fule upgrades.

with the price its going to cost you to do all that you should just turbo it

stock 4.6
231hp @ 4750 RPM

to get 300 at the wheels you would have to go from 231 at the crank to around 400 to see 300 at the wheels...

so you would have to gain around 150 hp or more at the crank...

could be done... but sounds like some work lol

Jwool got an obx muffler on recommendation from me and he is happy with it. really quieted things down. its also quite smaller than the magnaflow unit which is why he didnt wanna go with the magnaflow because of the price and its so long.

what would u rather spend 108 bucks or 45 bucks for a muffler that does the same thing

this is a good point, but i'm not going to be able to spend $4k+ at one time on a turbo or supercharger - which is why i was hoping to be able to piece it together over a period of time. what can i expect to pay for someone to pocket port the heads? and am i really losing around 100hp through the drivetrain (also accounting for accessories driven by the engine)?

I thought that was at the wheels, all ford dealerships and factorys have reaaaal dynos, ive seen em'! My brothers Volkswagon R32 3.2 v6 is 239hp awd, thats at the wheels. I can see him making it to 295-305 horse with all those mods, maybe throw in a/c delete if ya don't really use it.

Right now on my 02 5.4 i got k&n cai, ud pulleys, e fans, ford racing 9mm wires, pacesetter long tubes, magnaflow highflow cats to x pipe, and in the next month ill have msd cp's and afterburner coil, electric water pump, a/c delete, and of course, the gryphon tuner is on the way, $30 dollar custom tune for the bolt ons and mods AND somewhere down the road a Detroit Tru-trac, not sure what ratio im goin with. Im gonna shoot low on this to be safe but im hopin for 335-345 at the wheels.

According to my builder/tuner. You lose about 25% through the drive-train.
I just spent almost 3K for ported heads, cams & cam gears!
Stage 3 heads & Comp cams.
Heads $1999.00 Cams & gears $800.

You can get them for a little less at Patriot but they have had problems and are built cheep!!

And then there also Foxlake!

Somewhere between 300 & 350 RWHP!
The 260 HP rated at the factory is flywheel HP!!

300 RWHP is entirely do-able with a factory 4.6L.

Worked/Ported PI heads
Crane Cams
Full exhuast
Tune
gasket matched- mild ported intake
CAI
70 or 75mm throttle body
80 or 90mm MAF
E-fans
maybe some underdrive pulleys

That should allow you close to 300 RWHP

For the record, most of patriots problems were a few years ago; they're quality control has improved.

I am going to ask ford dealership tomorrow and get back on this because they have 100's of thousands of dollars in dynos, why would they rate there trucks at crank power, nobody cares about crank power.
