engine running bad

long story short some dumbass took a hose to fill my windshield wiper fluid and he walked away and came back and the hose popped out and water went all over the engine and the engine was cold and he told me it happend on accident but i am pissed, and soon as he told me which was like 5 mins later i cranked it up for about 10 mins and let it run to burn try to get rid of any water on the engine, well today went to drive it and it runs like crap and my edge says p0300 missfire and p0308 cylinder 8 missfire was running great until this happend

today i drove it over 100 miles and kept putting it to the floor to try to make it stop running so bad but its not solving nothing

so what can i do to try to fix the problem

thanks

check DTC's. most likely a shorted coil, water in sparkplug hole between boot and plug. coil will most likely need to be replaced.been there done that.

dtcs are one says unknown, other says random missfire detected, and the last says sylinder 8 missfire detected

so there is no way it will eventually run right and burn the water out of the engine or what

all modular coil packs 1998-2003 are the same. 4.6 and 5.4

i have coil on plugs, so the engine wont burn the water out and run normal or will i have to replace the cop and spark plug

it says cylinder 8 so if i replace that one it also says random missfire how do i fix that, and the unknown dtc as well

yea it runs bad like really bad once it kicks into od at about 42 or so it shakes the whole truck, so there is no way it will fix itself and burn the water out of the plug or cop

don't forget to check for water. more than likely evaporated already and left the bad coil to **** you off

nope. the plug sit's down there pretty far and the coil boot let the water in. I had the exact same thing happen to me. also check to make sure you did'nt blow the plug threads. common problem. btdt

the cop comes complete bolt in and it can't hurt to replace the plug for a couple of bucks
