For what you would pay for 2 COP's at a parts store, you can buy a full set of 8 from Global on Ebay - about 80 bucks. Use plenty of dielectric grease in the boots too.

You can try pulling the COP's and using an air hose to blow out the holes and dry them out - and reinstalling them. That MIGHT work.

Water doesn't go down the plug holes unless it's sprayed right on the COP's. That's what happened to you.

Hindsight is wonderful - if you get water on TOP of the engine, dry it out before running it.

ok so i shouldnt of cranked it and just let it dry out a day or two before running it

so since it was basically sprayed right on the cops i should replace all cops and spark plugs or only the ones throwing the codes, i am getting a 8 missfire and random missfire, so wheres the random comming from, and also mainly the driver side was the most wet side the other side was barely wet

so once i replace all the cops and plugs i shouldnt have no problem right, right now its killing my gas mileage normally get like 20 now only getting like 16-17

This is incorrect - So disregard info.

The 5.4L's have never used coil packs. All are COP systems = Coil Over Plug -Dedicated /1 per cylinder.

The 4.6L has used "Coil Packs" in the past (97 - 00). The 2001 models with 4.6L's sported COP systems that are still used today..

kr: - You have a random code .. = Their still wet/ 8 is toast.

That would have been a better choice. Best thing to do is blow it out w/compressed air. - Most likely , that would have worked.

If the truck is your DD. I would replace #8 w/Auto Zone coil (disconnect your injector (#8 )until it's fixed. your dumping raw fuel into the cylinder). Then order a set from Global.

Plugs: - It depends what kind your running and how many miles you have on them. No , the water didn't effect the plugs.

is it too late for that now, i drove it about 100 miles after it got wet and its still running bad

i ordered a set of 8 from them today should be here in a feww days since i am only about 200 miles from miami where they ship them out

i only have 82k on the truck right now so stock cops and plugs

Well , that depends on you.
well what else could be wrong with the engine from it getting wet, its throwing random missfire, and cylinder 8 missfire code and a unknown code, how do people submerge trucks and not have problems
Good Luck.
read in the quote

thanks

just remember the dielectric grease in the cop boots. and use motorcraft plugs only.

put the grease in the end of the boot that goes over the plug. it keeps water from getting in there. and it will keep everything from coroding, keeps the connections good, and etc
