IAC Question

IAC Question

i know the iac on my truck needs to be changed...anyone have pictures of what it is and where it is. 01 f150 5.4 screw. thanks

its right on the back of your throttle body. by the firewall

i cant remember but i think its roughly like only 10 minutes. its just 2 bolts and unplug it and its off. its guick and easy

you should clen the throttle body while replacing it. You dont have to but cleaning the throttle body WILL make your truck run better. There is detailed instructions for doing it at the top of this fourm.

IAC stands for idle air control. on newer cars and trucks that are not electronic throttle control, the IAC is a stepper motor or linear solenoid and lets a controlled amount of air around the throttle plate. the IAC opens or closes a certain amount and allows a certain amount of air to flow through that passage and around the throttle plates. just as the name indicates, the IAC helps control idle.

Yea , I didn't know where that came from haha - Couldn't figure out where I gave him the wrong impression ..
