lower gears, or less weight, or supercharge it, or try to get closer to 300 with basic mods. you can gain some from the following: tune, cams, cold air intake, underdrive pullies, electric water pump, electric fan assembly, synthetic oils, some of these make hp happen, most free up parasitic losses.

Do you plan on doing a lot of towing with your truck? If you do, N/A 400 hp at the rear wheels isn't exactly what you want. If you do get 400 RWHP, your torque band will move way up and you will be reving like crazy to pull the trailer. Every one bags on Ford for having the least power.. but they have the highest tow rating. Partly because the 5.4 makes most of it's torque so low in the rpm band. If you want that hp AND torque, then FI is the only way.

Well you can spend a lot of money on a N/A motor to get 400hp, or you can spend probably a lot less and get a supercharger and get the power you want.

First thanks for all the help guys, chris I'm not really looking for a high reving, sqease the hell out of it engine. It just makes me cringe when i hear a v8 screaming around 6500 rpm!lol. But since I do about 75% towing over 3000lbs form want I hearing it looks like Im best off with gears for that low torqure outthe`hole and maybe a whipple to keep it there. One more question,Is putting a whipple on as easy as everyone suggest?I understand how they work and all because I work with screw compressors all the time at work,I don't know, maybe it just looks easy, lol if it's as easy as it looks I think I could do it.Though the hardests part is saving up the money. thanks yall for every thing!

If you put a Whipple on it,,you wont even need the gears...lol
Putting a blower on your motor is not going to a major job like a totally rebuilt motor, and you will get the power your looking for for a lot less money and work!

You need to be pretty mechanically inclinded to do the whipple install, mainly because some parts of the directions can be a sort of guessing game, but really it isnt hard at all. With a buddy or two it can be done in a day.
