Fast tick/rattle!?

popped hood last night while truck was idling, and noticed a sound on the passenger side. sounds like it is coming from somewhere in the top of the engine, and its sort of a very fast, but somewhat light sound. sounds metal rattling or something of that sort. i always get worried when i hear noises like that thinking its a plug ready to go. just had them all changed with motorcrafts few thousand miles ago. if anybody has any ideas what it could be that would be great. Thanks alot!

Pull the PCV valve out of the valve cover and stick your thumb over it while the engine is running, see if it goes away.

The spring in the PCV valve breaks and rattles. It transmits all throughout the plastic valve cover, sounds like something's coming apart in the valvetrain.

Your mechanic is going against Ford's recommendations. You need a 5W20 or 5W30 in there for cold start protection. What is he putting in there for filters?
