swap 4.6 sohc w/4.6 dohc?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found a INTECH 4.6Lv8 DOHC out of wrecked FWD 2001 Lincoln Continental. My oil pump went out on my 99' f150 with a 4.6 and seized the engine. I was hoping to find out if it will work for a swap. Thanks

Not sure

I am pretty sure there are issues with substituting a FWD motor for a RWD motor. You will need to fabricate a plate to punt to the tranny, balancing on the crank is prolly different. In general it seems like a PITA, but sounds like a sweet motor! There are uber wise people on here who will add to and correct what I have said

Different bolt pattern for the bellhousing and different motor mount locations. you could rebuild your short block with the other pieces from the dohc shortblock then put the dohc heads on, get a good tune, roll on

The bolt paterns was my concern. I don't know if those 4.6's are much different.

Remember, one engine is a Single Overhead Cam, and the other is a Dual. This being, the dual overhead cam motor is different internally.

It's the same bottom end, different top end.

exactly

sstilley - see if the intake manifold is better for torque production on the explorer 4.6 VS the older truck 4.6 (even though I think it's the 32 valve aviator i'm thinking about)

you can also try to find a DOHC 4.6 from a late 90's mustang cobra, they should be set up for RWD
