Fuel pump info

Im swapping a carbed 302 into a 89 f150 that originally had a 300 I6. What do i need to do about the fuel pump? i was going to pull that stock one out but i was wondering if i even needed to if the stock pump provided enough psi. if it is puting out to much psi could i just put a regulator on the fuel line and save some time?

i'd put a mechanical pump onto the 302. a fule injection pump is way too much pressure for a carb. the fuel pump on the truck puts out 35-55 psi while a carb can only handle like 7-11 psi. i am not sure if you can get a regulator for the carb but i'm not 100% sure. just my own .02.

your truck should have 2 pumps. 1 low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump on the frame. i dont know how much pressure they put out. for the carbed 302 the pressure should be between 4-6. you could just take out the pumpeds and place fuel line in place of them and use the filter before the carb and use fuel line/hose to go down in the tank. or you may be able to find a conversion kit somewhere.
