has it ever been tuned up? i'd do motorcraft wires and plugs. what kind of air filter are you using? if its an oil charged filter i'd clean the maf sensor. and does it matter how fast you are going? not just rpm but whether or not its worst in different gears.

what brand plugs and wires? and the air filter may have contaminated the maf sensor. you may need to clean/replace it. is the cel on?

do you know what the codes are? if not you need to get them first because there are quite a few things that could cause the problem.

May be the MAF fouled which is easily cleaned or could be a fuel filter.

NO! You must use the electronic cleaner. You can get it at a parts store. And, if you don't know, you must not touch the little wire sensor in the MAF. You just spary it well and let it air dry.

Getting the codes read would be the best first step.
