How long should it last?

How long should a new f150 engine last if it is maintained decently (regular oil changes n tuneups) if it is run at a combination of city & highway driving (50 - 130km/hr) at an average of 35,000km/year?

The engine will out last the rest of the vehicle, so we don't really know.

there are people on here that have over 300,000 Miles on their trucks, that's over 480,000 KMs!!! Take care of it and it will last a long while. Keep in mind that s*$t happens and thing do fail, but overall, ford puts out a pretty darn reliable product.

Just my .02

Mine is currently at 242,000. It is a 97 5.4L. I change the Oil at 3000 (Mobil 1), fuel filter every 15K, Clean K&N every 50K, Differential(s) every 100K, anti-freeze every 100K, Trans fluid every 30K. Still has the original hoses and waterpump and pretty much everything else under the hood but the Alternator. Only normal maint items (brakes, shocks, tires). I did change the exhaust (Flowmaster), but I still have the original (exit in front of back tire). The body is still in excellent condition (no scratches or dings), and the truck should easily make it into 300K territory.

2003 ford f150 4.6l. odometer 210,000.
After finding out that the cylinder #8 was misfiring (SES light and shaking) I brought the truck into the dealership. Here is the work order notes:
"Engine electrical
customer reports check engine on and engine missing (I actually told them #8 was misfiring!)
checked for engine miss #8 cylinder
Checked plug OK
Checked Coil OK
Needs valve to come off
has a dead hole
#8 no compression
re re l valve cover check valve springs good. head needs to come off.
put air into cylinder. intake valve is not sealing
check with boroscope. has cylinder damage. may have bent or broken intake valve.
Re-assemble as per customer instructions.
EGR tube won't tighten into valve."
Total cost: $513.59
I took the truck out of the dealership and brought it to a respected mechanic in the area. He thinks I definetely overpaid and stated they (local dealership) are notorious for it.

Funny thing: when I asked them about the boroscope results they stated they "could not see anything', yet they did have notes on it in the work order.

well I got 196,000 out of my 98 4.6. It was maintained to the T. Oil changed every 3k, fuel filter every 10k, Plugs and wires changed every 60k. Then the friggin head gasket failed between # 1 and 2, hydro locked, blew the head off the block. Bad times. But I put a new one in her and she is on the road again.

As stated $hi7 happens.
