Burning #5 coil plug way to fast
I have a 2001 F-150 Lariat Supercrew 4x4. A few mods and still adding.. My only problem is I keep burning up the #5 coil and plug.. Have had all the coil's replaced as well as the plugs..No other problem on any other cylinder except that one.. Any one have any idea as to why my problem exist? Any help would be appreciated..THX

Sorry about that.. Maybe i should have explained myself a little better.. When I say " Burning Up" I only meant that i am "Fouling" out that coil and plug on a very frequent basis.. I have owned the truck since 2004.. In the time I have owned it I have replaced all the coil's and plugs.. My only problem is that I am unable to keep the #5 coil and plug in working condition..I will replace the Coil/plug and in less than 4 months i have to do it over again..The truck runs great except for that one cylinder..Any suggestions would help..THX
Look closely at the plug tip to see if the fouling is either fluff or wet oil type.
This is an indication of what the issue is.
If wet type then it's oil from some source such as broken ring or oil intake for some other reason and source.
If dry fluff it's fuel related indicating a leaking injector.
Also smell the tip to ID the type deposit.
In some cases coolant may be the source, then you would suspect a head gasket.
Usually no need to replace the coil for such issues.

To answer you ?'s jbrew my truck is a 2001 with 106,000 miles on it.. I had the whole truck inspected and everything that they could find wrong replaced over a year ago.. to include the coils/plugs.. I am running motorcraft plugs.. The truck has been sitting for over a year except for an 18 day stint in feb/mar.. It ran great for the first couple of days and then started to surge/lunge badly at low RPM's.. took it in and it was that same #5 coil and plug.. And I have noticed now that when at a complete stop the RPM's drop to 400-500 feels as if the truck is trying to pull forward on it's own.. Then it will return to normal and everything is fine..Really lost..
Bluegrass..If i were to have my wife take it to the shop will they check the gap and the residue deposit on the plug for me? I am unable to do it myself right now.. Currently in Iraq , wife is driving truck and having problems.. I have a new born baby and really dont want them braking down on the roadway..Any thing will help..Thx
