crunchiefs engine swap

86 f250 302 efi 4wd auto trans, engine is junk. 87 e 150 campervan, 4.9 L efi 2wd standard trans, dual battery system w/converter, 310 + miles. engine never burnt any oil, EVER. rusting to the ground as we type. #1: will the 4.9 bolt up to the 302 auto trans? #2: will the wiring harness be the same or close to the same between both vehicles? i have the wiring diagrams so if i need to switch a connector i know how to. i have all the tools and knowledge to preform the swap[except the hoist]#3: even though it's a 4.9 and had the ***** to haul the van around, and all my tools [carpenter] just fine, is it worth the swap? the junkyard guy has an 89 302 and i trust him. 400$ eng. 200$ swap, and no time down or greasy hands [which doesn't bother me at all, wife says diff.!!]#4: will the 89 bolt up and harness be close to the same? i think it's from a cougar.i'm sure some of you have specific ques. the van has to go one way or the other. i put alot of money in it over the years so i'll part out to local guys.too many new parts to cry over but it served it's purpose.the f250 is not sentimental at all but just a work horse for 600$. some idiots screwed me over on a tuneup and now the engine is broke, but i like the style and lines of it. looks like a beast !! lol ok now for the replies,,,, this is happening soon or i'm just junking both and starting over again. now i drive a 94 f150 4*4. good work truck

you're better swapping to a 5.8 with a stroker crank

but I thnk the other 302 is your cheapest and easiest route

you may want to have your 302 rebuilt. it may cost more but at least you'll know all about it. i dought it'll be that easy to find a good running 302 for your truck especially with the age. the cougar probably has the mustang 302 which you may need to swap the ignition wires and maybe the pcm if its maf. you need to know alot more about the vehicle. ask how long that 302 has been sitting and how many miles were on the vehicle it came out of.
