IAC Valve

Can anyone tell me the exact whereabouts of the IAC Vavle on my 2006 F150. It's a 4.6L V8 XLT.

Also, does anyone other than Ford sell the part yet? Can it be cleaned, etc. to clear the engine code?

IAC Codes report

I am getting

PO506
Idle Control System Low RPM

Ford Dealership told me that was an IAC Valve.

Wanted to almost $400 to replace the part, etc.

i think they wanted to replace the throttle body. i'd search more info on that code for 2004-2008 f150's.

heres a couple of threads to look at. your truck does have an iac but i believe it comes a whole unit and its not the normal style. at least i think ford replaces it as one unit.

Still Confused

I've heard now that there is an IAC and that there is NOT an IAC on a 2006 XLT 4.6L V8. The P0506 that I keep getting is for Idle Lower than expected (but my vehicle is not running rough nor stalling, etc.) I decided to go ahead and clean the throttle Body with cleaner and clear the engine light. That was 2 days ago and the engine light has not come back (YET?).... but when/if it does......

can anyone tell me WHERE the IAC (assuming there really is one) on the engine that I have. What does it look like (electrical connector with 2 bolts? or what?)

Anyway, thanks to all that can give me guidance.

Next challenge is to find a place to actually buy one. Seems only Ford/Motorcraft? sells them.

Thanks again.

No IAC 04+ As was already posted the fly by wire throttle body replaced it.

Low RPMs

as posted, I was getting a P0506 code.....low idle speed.

i cleared the code and cleaned my throttle body with cleaner. so far the code has not come back after about 60 miles.

although truck is running okay, not idling rough in my opinion, it shows just slightly below 750 rpms on the tach.

should i get a full tuneup or just ask to have the electronic idle adjusted????

I to have recieved the same code. I am running a lighting tuner on an '05 5.4. I cleared it thursday, and it returned friday. I recently wrote a custom level 2 program and added 1 deg of timing but forgot to increse the idle. The extra timing is amazing, it woke my truck up. But the idle lobes around 500-600 rpm in gear. today I am going to increase the idle and I will let you all know how it goes
