05- f150-5.4 triton

Help, When it gets hot, it misses and slams and clatters. I haven't put it on an anilizer yet, but was told that it was the EGR valve. The ford place said that model and vin number didn't have an EGR valve. What replaces it. Any Ideas?

the 05's had fuel injector problems. you should have them checked first.

5.4 3V has internal EGR via the variable cam timing system.

And yeah, I'd strongly suspect faulty injectors. 2005 model year vehicles with the 5.4 3V had an extended coverage recall for faulty injectors and related damages due to those injectors, they're covered for 11 years/120,000 miles from the warranty start date.

no when the injectors go out the do not make any noise, usually we see a hot soak injector problem or if it is when it is running your exaust will smell very rich with fuel. i would call ur dealer to run ur vin to make sure you are under the recall but just because you may have the recall until the perform a check out the will not replace them which means they may quote a check out fee...if its injecors u should not have to pay the fee

Thanks guys. I took it to the ford dealership and it was the valve timing thing that was bad. It cost Thirty five hundred to get it fixed. I have it on hold until I contact FOMOCO and see if they will help. It has 47000 miles on it and it went out of warranty at 36000. Bummer. Thanks for all of the input. I'm bailing out...Z.T.

If it were me I'd look into fixing it my self and if I didnt think I could handle it I'd get a new engine rather then pay $3600 to repair the old one. I'm pretty sure you could get a reman or even a brand new one from ford for not allot more then that. Just dont have them R&R it.
