4hi but no 4low

4hi but no 4low

I know this is the wrong side but im just tryin to get some quick help. My electronic shift on my 02f150 will engage into 4hi but when i go to switch in to 4low it just sits there and clicks for about a min then nothing happens. Need help thanks

Motor on the transfer case may have a bad ground, or is burned up.

yea it will sit there and click for a while then jus stop then at that point i have to turn the truck off and back on jus to get 4 hi. So i should check the ground first. And how would i check the motor.

You need to find out how the system works before coming to any fix unless your lucky.
The switch signals the GEM module that in turn operates the motor on the transmission to change the transmission power path.
Also relays on the firewall must operate to gate vacuum to the engagment drive on the front axle.
When all have been operated, a signal is returned to light the dash lamp and also changes the PCM shifting program sked for 4Lo operation.
Be sure you are at rest, in neutral and foot on brake before trying to go to 4Lo. The system looks for the brake switch input or no shift complete occurrs.
You must find what point the operation has failed before a fix can be applied.
This ia not your dad's Model T any more.

OK foot on brake in neutral, it starts clickin in dash im assuming its the relay after that clicking for about 30seconds i get nothing. I have to completly turn of the truck so that i can even shift in to 4hi
