quick question
if the oil pressure sending switch would go bad would the needle jump around all the time. or say if the guage only dropped when at idle could it still be just an oil pressure sending switch problem?

A manual will tell you how to test it, if you have a multi-meter it is a piece of cake. Get a good manual if you plan on doing a lot of stuff your self, "Bently" (25-30 bucks) make thorough manuals. A Haynes (15) or Chiltons(20-25) is fine for most stuff. Or just get a shop manual it will have all bet they are 70-100 but they can tell you things like bolt sizes, ect.
Depending what is wrong with the sensor it could jump or stop, you need to test it or just replace if it is cheap.
