Yeah. I have it done on my truck at the moment. I don't know if I actually gained or lost anything. You can definitely hear the difference at some RPM's.

I actually did something similar to mine (without having seen the tech article) and have been impressed with it. What I did was pretty close to the article except I purchased a spare airbox piece (half that houses the filter) at the local junkyard for $5, and cut off the end that goes into the fender, and the top and front sections of the filter housing (except the ring that holds the filter in). So it's basically the same as the article except my filter is a little more protected from any mud or water I might get into. I didn't notice a real huge difference but it seems like it's breathing a lot better.

Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking about doing it here in a couple of weeks when I get back from CA.

Yep , the gotts intake is all I run now - Run that with the stock set up. - Plenty of COLD air on demand. #1 intake mod for the close to stock set ups.

I don't like the idea of the motor breathing hot underhood air, so I removed the snout from my stock aircleaner, and used a piece of ABS pipe (3" IIRC) reamed out a bit to fit over the end. Applied some foam tape to the side of the engine compartment around the hole that leads to the fenderwell, and voila! Better breathing and still drawing cool air. (Cost me nothing but time, as well, since I had a scrap of pipe.)

No noticeable difference, but worth the cost.
