Don't know what to tell you other than that is just wrong. My manual says 7 and I have always put 7 in and it fills perfectly at the line on the dipstick.

As I recall, there is a page that shows all the different fluid capacities, not just oil.

One way to prove it to yourself is to put in 6 and check it. You can always add the 7th.

Just an after thought, that is 7 when changing the filter too, but I always change the filter. Use the Motorcraft filter BTW. Or Purolator, but never a Fram for these thrucks.

Is this the "low" line or "high" line?

Do a search on Fram filters. They use a card board drain back tube, it will collapse. The Ford needs oil to drai back so that it will not rattle at start up. The good filters have a plastic tube

One word- JUNK! They should sell snake oil with those Fram filters- would probably sell a lot of that too. LOL Read the filter analysis on Fram filters- They have all been rated "unacceptable for many many years now. I believe the only one rated acceptable is the $10. one. There have been more than one guy on the forums that have lost an engine because the junk Fram cardboard came apart and clogged the oil lines and caused oil starvation.
