sorry, it is a lariat, i was thinking of my dodge that i had previously before this one. anyhow, no, it is the extended warranty tha tthe dealership offered through MDPI, whoever that is. supposedly they are the top dog in extended warranty, because it covers everything that could go wrong. I have reviewed the contract, and it said that the truck has to be fixed in so many days or I have the option of taking it to the next level (whatever that means).

I have a renata CAR. not a truck, a CAR. It is getting into harvest time, and i need a rig to pull around the platform and the corn head and whatnot. I feel like i have been neutered!!!!!

I'd call the dealer and offer 3 alternatives:

1. Give you a loaner/rental truck so you can get your work done.
2. Buyout.
3. Engine replacement.

I am living with the same exact problem. My truck went in for a loud ticking noise about a month ago and amongst other problems they found the cam shaft scored. A few weeks ago I was told a release date of 10/20 for the part. Your latest post makes me question if this is still the story. My Ford ESP only covers 10 days of rental but the dealership stepped up to the plate and agreed to cover the rest. I really do miss my truck but at least the Focus I have gets twice the gas mileage!

the dealership has offered to look for another rig of the same value to keep my payments the same, my stipulation is that it has to be the lariat and the crewcab 4x4 with a 5.4

as far as the engine replacement, FOMOCO said that is not going to happen, nor will the head be replaced. imagine i am about to take a screwin!!!

I also have an 04 F150 5.4. At 50,000 it developed a distinct tapping noise on the right side. Took it to several mechanics inc several dealerships for opinions, no conclusive results. At 60,000 the roller needle bearings on the rt frt rocker arm failed resulting is a bent valve, cam and piston dmg. We inspected the other rocker rollers and found several to be loose. Question is: what caused it? Anyone else heard of this prob? I did have the oil changed at 45,000 using an aftermarket oil filter. Not sure if it had a check valve in it as the OEM does. Possibly starving engine components of oil at startup??

kham-

apparently this is an issue with the 04 5.4 motor. I no longer own this truck, as my dealership stepped to the plate and traded me trucks even up for a 2006 xlt with 20,000 miles. It is now the dealerships baby, adn i hope that they have better luck in putting the squeeze on ford than i did.

My roller rockers seized up completely, and i am told that ford used an inferior product for the needle bearings, and saved a buck a motor. now all of these motors are failing. hmmmmm......

Well the dealer has had my truck for about 7 weeks and we are still waiting for a right side cam shaft. Apparently there are 65 other trucks waiting for the same part. I have lost a little faith in Ford over this lack of parts problem. Apparently they are willing to pay for my rental indefinitely but they absolutely will not spring for an entire head assembly that is available that has the cam shaft. The US government has nothing on Ford when it comes to bureacracy.

Just out of curiosity will a head off of an 05+ truck work on the 04. My right cam was replaced 20K miles ago but not the left hand side. Just wondering what my options are to keep this from happening to me
As far as Ford goes there are many things on the 04's that should be recalled. Add this to my growing list.

Good news, good news. Now update your truck info to a 2006 Ford F-150.
