My truck started to run rough last week. The best way I can describe it is, starts normal, idles normal, but on acceleration it sounds/feels like it is missing but once to speed it runs fairly smooth. The check engine light came on today but when I took it to have the codes checked the scan tool would not come on. Autozone guy tried it on his ford vehicle and it worked fine, plugged it back into mine and it didnt work. Also it the exhaust smells rich.

Any thoughts? And thanks for the help.

 

does your cigarette lighter work? The code retrival pod is on the same circut as the cig lighter. if not replace the fuse and get the code read. Sounds like a bad coil. Tune up time maybe..
