Engine Tapping

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 Supercrew with a 5.4 engine and I recently changed my engine oil with 7 quarts of 5w20 oil and I noticed some minor tapping coming from the engine. I have never experienced this with any of my other Ford Trucks and would like some advice on maybe an engine additive or should I take this a little more serious.

wow i think the new trucks only take 6 or 6.0, that may be why your engines tapping, if not that it might be the oil your using, i know many people have switched from regular oil to mobil 1 in fords and it stopped knocking and all that other stuff

It probably the same "ford knock" every 5.4 does and you didn't notice before. But to be sure bring it to a mechanic and let them listen to it.

Yeah it seems all these trucks with the 5.4L have a slight engine tick. I brought mine to the dealer and it was "normal". And yeah these are 7 Quarts...

it may quiet down if you use a little thicker oil or a lucas oil additive. the 5w20 is like water. i run synthetic 15w50 in my little 5.0 in the summer and 10w30 in the winter.

If you are using Motorcraft 5W20 and a Motorcraft filter, it's not an oil issue.

Correct. You may be hearing the injectors, they do a light ticking at idle.
