Just wondering ????

What the red line is on my 2004 5.4 engine. No red line on the tach. Like I said just wondering...

the rods that ford uses are probably good to about 6k at the most, given the long stroke of the 5.4 compared to a 4.6 mod motor....thats not to say that your engine will make useful power up there, but that would probably be the highest RPM a stock 5.4 rod should ever see....i'd venture to guess that the RPM limiter is set to 5600-5700 RPMs on 3V 5.4s.....my guess is based on the fact that most 2V rods are good for a maximum of 6500ish in 4.6 based applications

The torque converter in the tranny is the weak link, so FORD set it at 5400RPM's!..............

Thanks for the info...Like I said just wondering. You would think they would put a red line on the tach, but I guess the rev limiter serves that purpose.
